{"id":126,"date":"2012-06-19T22:42:59","date_gmt":"2012-06-20T03:42:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jtechphotonics.com\/?page_id=126"},"modified":"2025-10-03T09:05:18","modified_gmt":"2025-10-03T15:05:18","slug":"high-power-laser-diode-led-constant-current-driver-source","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/jtechphotonics.com\/?page_id=126","title":{"rendered":"New High Current Laser Diode Driver"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>We now have the new Safety Interface Board for control lasers with integrated drivers &#8211; 24W, 44W, and 64W.<\/h3>\n<p>The J Tech Photonics High Power Laser Diode driver is designed with features, protection, size, and cost in mind.<\/p>\n<h3>Two Versions &#8211; 5amp and 2.5amp<\/h3>\n<p><strong>and&#8230;\u00a0 New Safety Interface Board!<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Added Safety for Driving Class 4 Laser Diodes<\/h4>\n<p>This go around we have kept all of the features that make this laser kit awesome \u2013 precision laser trimmed regulators for constant current to the laser, 0.01 tuning resolution, digital isolation, soft start, esd protection, current limiting, and the list goes on. \u00a0But NOW we have more safety in mind as well! \u00a0The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fda.gov\/Radiation-EmittingProducts\/RadiationEmittingProductsandProcedures\/HomeBusinessandEntertainment\/LaserProductsandInstruments\/default.htm\">US Federal Government has a list of things<\/a> that are required for operating these high power class 4 lasers. \u00a0They might seem trivial, but they could save your eyesight! \u00a0Here is a run down of the <em><strong>new safety feature<\/strong><strong>s<\/strong><\/em> to protect yourself and others:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Key Switch \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>This key is needed to enable the laser. \u00a0When the key switch is turned on, the laser is enabled and the key CANNOT come out. \u00a0You can only remove the key when it is disabled. \u00a0This feature is good if you have curious children or have your laser in a shared area and want to limit use. \u00a0Just take the key out and hide it!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remote Interlocks<\/strong> \u2013 This feature allows for addition of switches to your enclosure so when it is open, the laser will automatically turn off. \u00a0Also provides for the addition of an <a title=\"Emergency Stop Switch\" href=\"https:\/\/jtechphotonics.com\/?product=emergency-stop-switch\">E Stop button for the laser<\/a>, which is always good for if you need to stop the laser super quick! \u00a0Add as many switches as you want to make a super safe area for your laser machine so nobody can accidentally look into the laser.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Power Fault Protection\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; This one may seem like it is not needed, but hear us out. \u00a0Consider your power goes out in your area where the laser is located. \u00a0You were running your program and then everything is dark\u2026 \u00a0Power doesn\u2019t come back on for awhile\u2026 long enough for you to forget that the laser was left ON! \u00a0You come back and are checking your laser and boom, the power is back on, right when you are looking straight at it. \u00a0Well, don\u2019t worry because the laser will be disabled whenever the power to the driver is lost. \u00a0Press the reset button and you are back in action!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Emission Indicator\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211; \u00a0The small little LED on the front to let you know \u00a0your really super bright laser is on\u2026 \u00a0They require this in case you are using an infrared invisible laser.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Designed for Easy Integration with Digital Isolation<\/h4>\n<p>The high power laser diode\u00a0driver is cost effective and easily integrated into industrial, research, or enthusiast projects and products.\u00a0 The driver can be operated in CW mode or in Input Control Mode to be interfaced to remote electronics.\u00a0 This new design uses digital isolators for super fast response and input range while protecting the laser from deadly ground loops.\u00a0 \u00a0The board has screw terminal connections as well as molex mini-fit Jr. connectors for easy connections to external equipment for control and the laser diode output.<\/p>\n<h4>Current Limits and 0.001 Adjustable Current Resolution<\/h4>\n<p>This laser diode driver will provide up to 5 amps or 2.5 amps of constant regulated and protected current to the diode. under the users control, it is sometimes needed to invert the incoming logic. Left Two Jumpers On = Non-Inverting Input, Right Two Jumpers On = Inverting Input<\/p>\n<p><b>Control Signal and Performance<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The input connection provides an optically isolated input for control of the laser diode.\u00a0 The connection and the jumper settings were described in the previous sections.
